In the realm of resistance spot welding (RSW), joining aluminium and steel presents unique challenges. The disparity in the heat required for melting these materials, due to aluminium's higher electrical resistivity, results in uneven melting during spot welding applications. To achieve successful RSW, the thickness ratio between aluminium and steel must be greater than 3.15, with aluminium significantly thicker than steel. Although the process is often described as isobaric for simplicity, in reality, it is not isobaric due to the change of state of the material. In light of these challenges, we recommend exploring alternative methods such as metal adhesive and self-piercing rivets for effective bonding and mechanical connection. OVERVIEW ON WB 36/P36. (15NiCuMoNb5) It is a Bainetic Ni-Cu-Mo steel micro alloyed with Cb/Nb, addition . Main application- Pipes and Tubes are for Feedwater piping & Downcomers including Headers, Manifolds and Fittings. Advantages--Excellent High Strength Properties up to 450°C. Reduced weight of feedwater piping components. Improved Resistance to Thermal fatigue and very good Heat transfer compared with Usual Carbon steel. Possibility of reducing wall thicknesses between 15 to 35% compared with for example SA106 gr C, using thinner pipes allows time & cost savings in Prematerial, Welding & Bending opration, Weight of the structure. Transformation Temp-- Ac1 around 725 & Ac3 around 870°C. Hot bending--Temperature between 750 &950°C. After hot forming,the material is subjected to N+T heat treatment.
